                  Nelson Mandela died aged 95 at his Johannesburg home on Thursday after a prolonged lung infection,plunging his nation and the world into mourning for a man hailed by global leader as a moral giant
 Nelson Mandela, who became one of the world's most beloved statesmen and a colossus of the 20th century when he emerged from 27 years in prison to negotiate an end to white minority rule in South Africa, has died. He was 95.

Neem Karoli baba, a spiritual teacher in search of whom Steve Jobs is said to have come to India, continues to be a revered figure 38 years after his death. One of the recent additions to his band of followers is Hollywood actress Julia Roberts.

About a year ago, Roberts told Elle magazine that she was attracted to Hinduism and converted to the religion after seeing a picture of the baba. Born Lakshmi Narayan Sharma in Akbarpur, Uttar Pradesh, the baba is called 'Maharaj-ji' by his followers. A devotee of the monkey god, Hanuman, he taught that compassion is the highest virtue.

Rachel Beckwith was going to be nine years old, and her mother was planning a party. Rachel told her mom she did not want any presents. She had read about an NGO which raises money and builds wells in Africa so people can have clean, fresh water, and she told her mother she wanted to create a web site so people could donate. She asked that people donate nine dollars, a dollar for every year of her life. Rachel had a goal of raising three hundred dollars, and she came up a little short as she received donations totaling 220 dollars. She told her mother she would try harder next year.

From 50 paise, she now earns Rs 200,000 a day.

She started her career 31 years ago as an entrepreneur, selling eateries from a mobile cart on the Marina beach amidst all odds -- battling a failed marriage, coping with her husband, a multiple addict, and taking care of two kids.

Today, she has overcome the hurdles and owns a chain of restaurants.

She married against the will of her parents. Unfortunately, the marriage failed but her parents never forgave her and she was on her own along with 2 children.

Neerja Bhanot was the senior flight purser on the ill-fated Pan Am Flight 73, hijacked by four heavily armed terrorists after it landed at Karachi at 5 am from Mumbai. PA 73 was en route to Frankfurt and onward to New York City. Neerja alerted the cockpit crew about the hijack and, as the plane was on the tarmac, the three-member cockpit crew of pilot, co-pilot and the flight engineer were able to flee from the aircraft. Neerja, being the most senior cabin crew member on board, took charge.
